Charles Hindes: mature. And she always had braided hair, and so we used to pull her hair and chase her and she was an extremely thin girl. We called her "razorback."
Norman Hindes: [NORMAN] Talking about the Dobrinin girl?
Charles Hindes: [CHUCK] Pardon.
Norman Hindes: [NORMAN] Dobrinin?
Charles Hindes: [CHUCK] Yeah. Do you remember what her first name was?
Norman Hindes: [NORMAN] Uh. Agnes Dobrinin.
Bob Zybach: Oh, Agnes. I think she's still alive and lives here locally. I think I've got her married name, but I've never talked to her.
Norman Hindes: I'll be darn. Agnes Dobrinin.
Charles Hindes: [CHUCK] Yeah. That's what is was, Agnes. Thanks.
9. Lee Brown
Bob Zybach: Do you remember Stambaugh?
Charles Hindes: [Chuck] I didn't. Did you?
Bob Zybach: Or Hardingrass? Any stories about any of the crops in that area or farming at night? Any of the farmers in that particular. . .
Charles Hindes: We really didn't know or have much association with the farmers, even though my grandfather had been quite an extensive farmer. We really kind of lost track of farming by the time we got up there. I knew a little about Lee Brown's extensive sheep operation.
Bob Zybach: Now I'd to hear more about that. We're moving kind of closer to the school there. Lee Brown. Was he living there at the same time that the Hildebrands. . .
Charles Hindes: No. The Hildebrands moved in after Lee left. I'm not sure just what transpired there. Lee was living there and he was running extensive sheep flocks. He had lots of land here but he ran big sheep bands clear into Montana. He was one of the old timers that used to put them on the trains and move them to different parts of the country and the stories were that he had as much as ten thousand head. You know, we never heard from anybody that I thought was reliable, but he was an extensive sheep operator and I think he died and a son became the heir.
Norman Hindes: [NORMAN] What was the kid's name?
Charles Hindes: [CHUCK] I can't remember.
Norman Hindes: [NORMAN] Hugh.
Bob Zybach: Hugh Brown?
Charles Hindes: [CHUCK] Could be. I just don't have any bells ringing right now.
Norman Hindes: [NORMAN] I wouldn't want to be quoted on that, but that just seem like that was his name.
Charles Hindes: [CHUCK] I remember that he was a heavy drinking man and a man with the ladies.
Norman Hindes: [NORMAN] Loved his women.
Charles Hindes: [CHUCK] He drove a great big expensive, seemed like a LaSalle, touring car.
Bob Zybach: Lee Brown drove a LaSalle.
Charles Hindes: Did he?
Bob Zybach: Or, you're saying the kid.
Charles Hindes: The son.
