INDEX TO VIDEO (1 hr., 41 min., 11 sec.)
This is the second student lab for the 2021 Southwestern Oregon Community College (SWOCC) F251 Forest Recreation class that is focused on the Elliott State Forest, its management, maintenance, and recreational opportunities. This lab is primarily based on the five "virtual" Elliott field trips conducted in 2020 and on the recommendations of the 2018 and 2019 SWOCC F251 Draft Elliott Recreation Plans. This lab is organized into six parts: 1) Dr. Bob Zybach briefly shows how to navigate the ORWW (Oregon Websites & Watersheds project, Inc.) Elliott websites developed by the 2018, 2019 and 2020 SWOCC F251 students; 2) McKenzie Peters, NW Maps Co. videographer, provides brief overviews and navigational directions for visiting the five Elliott field trips on the ORWWmedia YouTube channel; 3) Frank Mahoney, Portland-based videographer, and Bob show how video drones can be used to monitor and document forest roads, trails, and streams; 4) David Gould demonstrates how Elliott rock roads and historical trails can be efficiently maintained; 5) David documents several locations in the Elliott in which landslides have directly resulted in spawning gravel for anadromous fish; 6) Jerry Phillips relates the history of Jerry Phillips Reserve.
