INDEX TO VIDEO (1 hr., 10 min. 49 sec.) This "virtual" field trip is based on detailed on-site oral history interviews with Jerry Phillips and David Gould in 2017. This route was successfully followed by the Southwestern Oregon Community College (SWOCC) 2018 and 2019 spring term F251 Forest Recreation classes. Due to coronavirus restrictions the field trips for the 2020 F251 class were videotaped and these files are also being used, with indexes and closed captioning, for the 2021 class for the same reason -- "social distancing" and "distance learning." The Golden and Silver Falls Field Trip begins in Allegany, at the old steamboat landing from the late 1800s. We then visit riverboat historian, Roger Ott, at his home to view historic riverboat pictures on the Coos River on his computer. From Roger's home we traveled up the East Fork Millicoma River with David Gould and local logging historian, Lionel Youst. From the old logging camp at the mouth of Glenn Creek we then went to Golden and Silver Falls Park, hiking along the old Glenn Creek County Road from the base of Silver Falls to the top of Golden Falls. These "virtual" field trips are hosted by ORWW Program Manager, Dr. Bob Zybach, and videotaped by McKenzie Peters, NW Maps Co.
