INDEX TO VIDEO (39 min., 35 sec.) This first "distance learning" workshop was necessitated by sudden statewide regulations in response to the 2020 coronavirus epidemic. Attempting to conduct student workshops without students, no budget, and no access to normal computer repair shops, studios, equipment rentals, or technical consultants proved problematic. Prior to the pandemic, the plan had been to focus on the history, maintenance, and potential recreational uses of the Elliott's road and trail networks, building from two successful previous years with Southwestern Oregon Community College (SWOCC) F251 Forest Recreation classes. The five established field trips and three 4-hour workshops at the SWOCC computer lab were scheduled in early March, 2020; before classroom attendance and field trips were abruptly canceled. This video marks the first attempt to transition under these conditions; from long-practiced traditional teaching methods to untested "distance learning" opportunities and constraints. Internet documentation and communications remain a common tie.
