Eugene Glender: Down there.

Bob Zybach: And we're at the corner of Trillium Lane and the mileage is

Jan Meranda: [Jan] 10.5 And it's madrone not manzanita.

Eugene Glender: Yeah.

Bob Zybach: This is going to be hard for somebody to transcribe because it's a simple question and a ... ?

Eugene Glender: Yeah.

Bob Zybach: Okay, what can you remember at this stop here?

Eugene Glender: Well, not a whole lot, just that the Sheppard lived right there. He was an old timer in the area.

Bob Zybach: Was he a "shepherd" or named Sheppard?

Eugene Glender: His last name was Sheppard.

Bob Zybach: Was this road in through here?

Eugene Glender: No.

Bob Zybach: There was no road here?

Eugene Glender: No.

Bob Zybach: Did ... where was Sheppard's house located from here?

Eugene Glender: Right down there [points southeast].

Bob Zybach: About how far?

Eugene Glender: Right there where those other buildings are.

Bob Zybach: So it's not there anymore?

Eugene Glender: No.

Bob Zybach: What kind of house was it?

Eugene Glender: It was a big two story house.

Bob Zybach: Did it have a name to it?

Eugene Glender: Not that I know of.

Bob Zybach: Okay, did anybody else live with him, did he have a hired hand or family?

Eugene Glender: He had a family. John Sheppard was ... let's see he was an assessor in Albany, I think, for several years. He was under Boyers, I think.

Bob Zybach: Okay, what didhedo?

p. 8

Eugene Glender: He was an assessor in Albany.

Bob Zybach: And that was John Sheppard?

Eugene Glender: Yeah.

Bob Zybach: Were there any ... how many kids' were in the family?

Eugene Glender: That I don't know [two, a boy and a girl].

Bob Zybach: Did they go to school at Tampico?

Eugene Glender: No.

Bob Zybach: Do you know where they went to school?

Eugene Glender: Gosh, I don't know.

Bob Zybach: Did they have an orchard around in here?

Eugene Glender: Not a whole lot.

Bob Zybach: What did they do for a living mostly?

Eugene Glender: Oh, he fanned some down in there.

Bob Zybach: Do you know how many acres he had?

Eugene Glender: No.

Bob Zybach: Do you know what crops he raised?

Eugene Glender: Oh, he done some logging.

Bob Zybach: Oh, he logged too?

Eugene Glender: Yeah.

Bob Zybach: Could he have logged for the saw mill?

Eugene Glender: He owned all this right in here.

Bob Zybach: So he owned the whole area?

Eugene Glender: Yeah.

Bob Zybach: And that was in the 1930's?

Eugene Glender: Yeah, '20's, '30's.

Bob Zybach: Did he live here up until Adair came in?

Eugene Glender: I believe so, right close to that time.

Bob Zybach: Okay, when did they take his house out, with Adair?

Eugene Glender: Yeah.

Bob Zybach: So they removed the house at that time?

Eugene Glender: Yeah.
